06:18 pm - Writer's Block: Proven by Science
Believe it or not, no, I do not think everything has a scientific explanation. We have yet to actually develop the ever evasive Grand Unified Theory (GUT), unifying the pillars of physics (Newtonian, Relativistic, and Quantum). Also, even if this is established, our understanding of the Universe falls on its face when we try to determine how the Big Bang occured, if that is indeed how the Universe was created.
The limit of our scientific knowledge, so far, is the theorized singularity that created the Universe as we know it. Even if we explain the singularity origins on the random formation of mass/energy via confirmation of some of the experiments running presently, we still will not be able to explain its formation. Its the what came first, the chicken or the egg argument on crack.

07:24 pm - Writer's Block: Memo to Myself
Don't travel back in time, because you probably already screwed up the entire space-time continuum, and whatever advice I give you may be irrelevant now, because its application to the believed future events may no longer apply, as the future has already changed.
But since I am here... try not to think everything to death. You have good intuition; use it. And also, focus more on your academics.

07:11 pm - Politics Al Franken on the Judiciary comittee... Al Franken! This guy is going to vote on a Justice of the Supreme Court!? Seriously!?
The UK only has 8-10 Chinooks in their entire arsenal that can operate in Afghanistan!? Good god, no wonder the US is always the primary provider of forces in any coalition action.
Wow, Kim Jong-Il looks like the crypt keeper; finally, his physical appearance matches that of the condition of his country.

05:20 pm - A Little Bit of Politics Why on Earth are we giving the IMF $100+ billion? Don't we have enough of our own debts and stimulus packages to stimulate? And with universal healthcare on the horizon... good God! 46 million are uninsured, yes, and we have to do something for them, by why do we have to tear down the entire system and jeopardize the health care of the other 250+ million people? I don't know, it doesn't make sense to me. Just "tweak" it, write a patch and deploy, don't re-write the whole thing.
And what is with the Americorp Inspector General being tossed after finding dirt? And why are we even considering releasing pictures suspected of depicting further soldier brutality in Abu-Gharib? What purpose does that serve other than pissing muslims off?
This is all very frustrating. No one can tell me that we are "better off" now, we just have a different set of problems that are just as drastic.
...and I still haven't goitten my shares of GM from the government, not that I would want shares in a company that SHOULD have gone into bankruptcy.
I really am glad I am focusing the majority of my efforts in watching my own finances and such instead of following every newscast. It is all the same crap, the same BS, the same "look over here, not there" crap.
I'm just glad that I am fortunate enough to be relatively unscathed by this economy, and luckily, my bank had very little to do with the housing bubble pop, which is why I will continue to invest with them and bite the slightly lower interest rate.

09:19 am - Memorial Day Politics http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/25/obamas-memorial-day-celeb_n_207294.html
It continues to amaze me that people somehow believe that the primary reason for the Civil War was slavery, and that the Mason-Dixon line was the magical dividing line between pro-con slavery.
I commend President Obama for his actions in this situation. I hope he continues on his promise to see all sides, and to come to a reasonable middle-ground, and as he usually finds himself at odds with the fervant liberal and the fanatical conservatives, he must be doing something right.
I am also glad he got out for a game of golf. I know some conservatives are probably going after him for that, but hell, most americans are playing golf or cooking out... why shouldn't our president?
I believe part of celebrating Memorial Day is by enjoying the time as best as we can.

05:54 pm - Miss America Meltdown Usually I stear clear of anything involving these soulless, absolutely trivial competitions, but for once there is actually something to talk about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XMvviFbkf0
"I respect her opinion. The beauty of America is that we all have a right to our own opinion," she explained. "I'm proud of her for speaking from her heart."
-MIss America Kristen Dalton, in regards to Miss California Carrie Prejean
Apparently tall, blonde Miss America has a better understanding of the freedom of speech than the hordes of cry babies who believe said right ends when the speech is in opposition to gay marriage.
I, myself, wish the state would no longer give marriage licenses, and issue union licenses to any couple of consenting adults; leave the word "marriage" for the churches. All equal under law.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI1u6bZ39YE
As for Perez Hilton's rebuttal; his statement, althoguh not as hateful as Miss Californias could be perceived, is equal in magnitude but on the axis of stupidity, not intolerance. Noted, everyone has a right to be intollerant or stupid, or in so many cases, both; but what I don't understand is that Perez did not want her to apologize for what she said, but how she said it. So, you want her to sugar-coat it? To bury it under somantics rather than simply say what she believes? I don't understand, whats the difference as to how she justifies her opposition to gay marriage; in the long run, it is the same result, unless Hilton has just admitted to the validity of states being able to oppose gay marriage and be within their rights... which he seems to be doing.
I don't know, none of it makes sense to me. Sure, she's a bitch, I get it, but his "don't come out of the closet" about opposition to gay marriage approach is like telling Hitler not to talk so much about why the Jews should be killed, but to focus on talking about the rights of a nation to commit genocide... just keep burying all that intolerance... a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy for gay marriage opposition.

09:23 am - Writer's Block: Guantanamo’s Remaining Detainees
We can start an "Adopt-A-Possible-Terrorist" program, and all the ACLU and international law jockies get first picks. Then again, most peoples concern of others fall short when it involves that concern being in their own backyard. It's a big reason why you cannot find public housing in rittenhouse square. It's also a lot like Ted Kennedy wanting more wind and solar energy, as long as a wind farm isn't blocking the view at one of his coastal getaways.

08:17 pm - Obama Bumper Stickers Since it's been awhile since I said something political. In response/during his latest PR move:
Barack Obama: Promises you a rainbow, gives you blue
Barack Obama: Let me keep talking until you forget that I am going back on my promise about middle-class tax cuts
Barack Obama: Read my lips. No new middle-class tax cuts!?
Barack Obama: Why do I have so many Primetime Press Conferences and my numbers are still falling?
Barack Obama: Went from honeymoon to arguing about the dirty dishes in less than six months
Barack Obama: Remember the defecit I was complaining about that the republicans made? I am going to double it!!
Barack Obama: AIG doesn't count... we just gave them the money BEFORE we implemented the controls... now we have the controls, so give me more money... and look to the future and stuff
Barack Obama: I am going to double the defecit and cut it in half!? Damn I'm good!
Barack Obama:
I closed Gitmo (2 more months left in the timeline I believe)
Barack Obama:
The troops are home
Barack Obama: The audacity of empty promises to get elected as the candidate to usher change from the same-old Washington politics as usual?
Barack Obama: Because who cares about cutting military spending... it's not like those are jobs...
...Prove me wrong Barack Obama... for the love of god, prove me wrong.

01:01 pm - Writer's Block: Animal Instinct
Well, I would probably choose Velociraptor (Deinonychus) if dinosaurs count, but I really do like the whole Jackal deal that was hammered out a long time ago.
True, I adore the raptor; it is fast, agile, smart, cunning, vicious, but it is a predator, and I am not a predator. I do not have the killing instinct (that was a great game, and it had a raptor as well) it has, if I did, I would have eaten my boss by now and taken control of the pack.
I think jackal suits me better. Loyal, smart, not particularly agressive, known for its cunning. The Egyptian god, Anubis, is also in the form of a jackal, and for some strange reason, I am drawn to this character. It may be from my mothers fascination with all things Egyptian, or perhaps it is related to the dark vibe of Anubis that draws me a little (all my DnD characters always have a bit of a dark side, I love all of the Sith characters, Cobra rules, Decepticons all the way, etc).
Which brings me to another thing... I really don't get me. On one hand, I can be the goofiest, most crazed and friendly person around (and I usually am during most social gatherings), but for the most part, I see the world in the most pessimistic light possible. The stuff I think about most of the time, in my uninformed opinion, would make most people simply crack (and maybe I already have a little), and I only say roughly 20% of what I am thinking most of the time, primarily because most of the time I am both pro and con for something, but arguments/discussions rarely afford you the opportunity to be both for and against.
For instance, I cannot understand this Obama craze at all. For all purposes, the guy has not really done anything yet and he is already being put on coins with pictures of JFK. I mean, excluding political affiliation, I don't think I could ever get that excited by a presidental candidate, because I know what is going to happen, because it always does. Because of this, I will hold my excitement till I see results, and the first black president is not enough to get excited about in my opinion.
Wow, this has really ended up being longer than I thought. Not sure what else to say, as I feel I went off topic. Anyways, its ugly outside, and as much as I love winter, I am sort of ready for it to be over.

11:07 am - Dreams? Well, I know most of you are aware of my brags regarding how f'ed up my dreams can get. Well this past weekend, I have had two, Friday and Saturday night... both some of the weirdest ever.
The first one, I remember two comic bookstores that were right next to each other, and across a dirt road that lead to them, was this large grass field with a small shack house... nothing terribly impressive. There was some sort of weird compeition between the two stores... this was the fairly normal portion of the dream. Later, I remember have some sort of broken down van... like a UPS truck, and I guess I couldn't get it started or something weird like that. Ah, and I remember I tracked down some chick to her house because either I was returning something or she had something of mine and it was in her house, so I entered (not sure if it was foreceful or not) and someone was with me... I found her, and of course, she was quite angry about my presence, for one reason or another. Something happened, and then some big creature looking dude (a monstrous humanoid) emerged and killed the dude I was with.
I was captured somewhere outside by either the same critter or another. I tried explaining my presence and reasoning with it (sounds like me), but it simply not cared. It drew some of my blood and placed it in a tube. This tube zig-zagged on poles in this large yard, back and fourth like a retard put up a fence. Some how I knew that I had to beat the blood flow, because it was a ward that would prevent me from escaping since it was my blood. I ran as fast as I could, and before I got to the end perimeter to find out whether I would make it or not, I awoke, quite disturbed by the event.
In the Saturday "dream", I was part of a team walking around a large, very run-down building that had some sort of infestation, and I am not talking about rats... more like demon dog kinds of things. I remember some friends being in it, not sure who, but we were trying to coordinate sweeps through the building, and most of the time I was spending attempting to convince people to get on board and synchronize our assaults. It was weird.
Also, in another dream, I believe a week before this series, I was the survior of a virus that was going around (it initially spread from a forest to a mile long-stretch of playground). People were turning into inanimate objects, like buzzsaws and crap... i watched one guy get cut horizontally into thin slices by this buzzsaw guy (cant remember if he was cutting himself or someone else did), but he didnt seem to die, just stood there like a stack of bologne... you can see cuts, but no blood or anything... really weird.
Maybe I need a therapist :-)

08:11 pm - Hope-o-rama This 30-minute primetime fluff fest is the most disgusting thing I've forced myself to sit through, fuzzy feeling piled upon fuzzy feeling.
I love how the only "real" people are the middile class, while the drug companies are populated by a bunch heartless capitalists, as if it is one Borg collective bent on screwing everyone.
You know that healthcare plan you want to push for the common folk... where do you think they get those drugs that they need? The generic companies?
I am so sick and tired of this pharma-bashing. Think the drugs you are taking are from an evil corporation? Then stop taking them... just let yourself die, and then you can really stick it to us.
Reaching across the aisle to stop loose nukes? Damn, that must have been a really hard thing to find common ground on. That is not an example of hard bipartisanship, and finding center ground, that just plain common sense.
Ugh, I cannot wait until this election is over! Everytime I travel on 422, I see all those stupid signs, and the signs ppl put up to cover other candidates signs (i.e. Gerlachs sign covered by Fire Gerlach).
I know Obama will probably win, but he better deliver... I hope he delivers...

10:50 pm - Tarot Fun
I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your result for Which Tarot Card Represents Your Higher Self? Test... The Devil5 0Fool, 6 1Magician, 4 2Priestess, 0 3Empress, 5 4Emperor, 1 5Hierophant, 2 6Lovers, 5 7Chariot, 2 8Strength, 4 9Hermit, -1 10WheelOfFortune, 2 11Justice, 2 12HangedMan, 2 13Death, -1 14Temperance, 9 15Devil, -1 16Tower, 2 17Star, 3 18Moon, 4 19Sun, -1 20Judgement and 2 21World!
The Devil is another of the popularly misunderstood cards of the Tarot, perhaps second only to Death in this category. In our modern world we do not like to think that there is a seed of negativity in everyone, so we assume that anything bad that happens must be the work of some outside Devil, who is to be feared and shunned. But really, people do not do bad things because a force outside them is controlling their actions. They do bad things because the negative part of their own personality is expressing itself. To deny this side of yourself is to give it power over you, and to give it free reign over your life will eventually destroy you. The symbolic portrayal of the Devil in the Tarot is a clear mockery of two previous Major Arcana, the Lovers and the Hierophant. The former parody is perhaps the more obvious. Where the angel hovers on the Lovers, the Devil stands on his card, cursing the man and woman rather than blessing them. They who were once connected to each other by love are now attached to the Devil by their chains of lust and ignorance. The Devil's hand mimics the gesture of the Hierophant, but perverts it. The true Hierophant offers spiritual wisdom and beckons to us with an open hand. The Devil's gesture hides his true intentions of hurtful wisdom - not really wisdom at all. It must be stressed again that the Devil is not a force that attacks from without, but a cancer than devours you from within. When the Devil is in power everything turns upside-down; hence, the inverted Pentagram associated with him. When you submit to your inner Devil, you simultaneously submit to every other force in the outside world that would do you harm. You allow others to bind you and control your life. You allow your creative powers to be corrupted and turned against you. But through all of this you are not a victim of anyone but yourself. In fact, in a sense you are not really a victim at all, and certainly not helpless. The most important lesson the Devil teaches you is that you can free yourself from whatever restrictions are holding you back, at any time you choose to. The chains that bind the figures on the Devil card are loose enough to be thrown off at any time. There is still positive energy within you that you can tap to break free - but only if you can let go of the materialism and that the Devil embodies. In the end, the best way to free yourself of the Devil's bondage is not to submit to it, but to accept it as the shadow that must be cast wherever there is light. Having accepted the shadow, you can look to the light. When the Devil card appears in a reading it usually shows that you are not in control of your life, sometimes as a result of your own actions, but more often as a byproduct of inaction. This loss of control often leads to loss of hope, and a lack of faith in your own abilities. Sometimes ignorance and materialism are the tools of the Devil, and those traits will be evident if you focus on worldly possessions and power while ignoring the spiritual power you have inside of you. As a result, your creativity and energy can be seriously impaired, and you may not wish to regain control of yourself. Your own mindset is a critical factor when the Devil card appears. If you think darkness has won, it has. If you are willing to let others exploit and restrain you, then they can and they will. But no one has power over you unless you give it away. If you are willing to release yourself from the chains of ignorance, you can do so, and you can step into the light. Turn all that negative energy into positive energy and see how much you can accomplish when you believe you can. Take a good long look at yourself and try to see what you could not see before. Always remember, that shadow cannot exist without light, and that there is no Devil except the one you create. Take Which Tarot Card Represents Your Higher Self? Test at HelloQuizzy

10:06 pm - Various Just so everyone knows, I have a new phone, so please text me with your numbers because I probably don't have it.
Tomorrow I find out to what extent GSK is going to let persons go, and whether I need to compete/apply for my job or not. I am not too worried, however, I cannot feel as if I am invincible. I have started looking for new jobs just in case, though I doubt it will be neccesary.
This Presidental debate angers me. Obama is talking about how we can not only have wars that directly affect our national security, and can somehow say at the same time that we have "moral obligations" to enter certain conflicts, yet also denounces the Iraq War. Now, I don't care what you think about the Iraq War, but how could someone not justify the invasion/liberation of Iraq as a "moral obligation"? Disposing of a dictator cannot be a "moral obligation"? Yes, that was not the reason that was given to us, but do the ends justify the means? I don't know. I guess I simply do not understand the difference between these supposed just liberal wars and cowboy conservative wars. ...and McCain isn't better. He is not the same McCain, as he has pandered too far to the right and is eating up his "fighting my own party" capital.
Obama "sounds" better, "his" ideas sound great and give me warm fuzzy feelings, but why should I trust him? He is barely more qualified than Palin, who is reminded to us as being less than a "heartbeat" from the presidence, yet somehow it is absolutely fine that he is even less than a heartbeat from the presidency, because he would be if elected.
And WTF is this $700 billion bailout. More people are against this thing than the Iraq War. So the Dems talk about "the will of the american people", and then go on and talk about doing what is best for us (I know Republicans voted for it as well, McCain as one of them)? How is this any different than Bush's cowboy politics? This entire mess is a snowball that has built up with the decrease of loan requiremnts pushed by the federal government for equal opportunity housing (no, I am not talking about letting minorities get a house fairly, I am talking about companies not being allowed to prevent certain persons from getting loans because they dont have money and happen to be a minority). It has been propegated by greedy companies working on comission fudging applications to persons who were too stupid to realize they could not own $300K houses on their McDonald's paychecks (lrn2rent noob) and somehow thought a "variable" interest loan somehow means "flat".
I have considered the idea of buying a handgun and rifle and practicing before the new revolution/civil war and/or depression... much more practical than martial arts, though may be useful when I run out of bullets and the zombies come... or is that when the sword comes out or chainsaw arm... not sure. Details, details.

09:11 am - Long Time, No Post
I am working the second shift (sort of) this week. It is nice to be at the plant by myself pretty much... I am getting soo many of the small things done that I do not get a chance to do during regular hours.
One of my neighbors (who lives with another guy) decided to not only bring a ladder out to help me trim the hedges that they have been somewhat annoyingly insinuating that I should trim for some time, but to provide a somewhat uncomfortable discussion about the gay lifestyle along with it. Look, I have a lot of gay friends, so I am obviously not a homophobe, but I think it is a little weird when a neighbor comes up to you and tells you how great it is to be able to "cut out the games and get right to it", insinuating the ease of sexual encounters. Again, I have no problem that he is gay, or that he is living with another guy for 33 years... that's wonderful, it is great to see any couple co-exist for such a long time, I just found the conversation very inappropriate. It's not like I go around and talk to people I hardly know about how great it is to put a penis in a vagina. It just seemed very awkward.
I had a terrible headache yesterday. I took some generic acetaminophen tablets from the first aid kit at work. I swear I felt high. I walked around like a zombie with my face tingly numb and other weird things. People said I look like shit. I really hope they didn't think I showed up on drugs or anything like that.
My phone was supposedly delivered yesterday at my door step, but it was not there. I am pissed, and hope that my neighbor may have picked it up as before.
So the Democratic convention is this week. Dean was talking about on Morning Joe how the Republicans are such a divisive party that only focuses on the issues that create partisan conflict. I am really quite sick of this grandstanding by the DNC. Look, if/when the DNC gets the White House and Congress, prepare for more corruption, just as little bipartisan action, and as few presidental vetoes. These people who think that somehow the Democratic Party will be our saving angel of grace and return to righteous politics (return? When was politics ever clean?), suffer from rampant delusions caused by the ineptness of the previously governing republicans.
Polarity is the name of the game, and as much as the DNC wants to make Obama to be a man of the middle-class and mainstream America, he will, in the end, drive poor thought-out socialistic policy alongside inept and meaningless executive orders, like the acknowledgement of the struggles of the liberal blogger. One of the correspondents on Morning Joe, who seems to be primarily an Obama supporter, said when she is critical of Obama, she gets wayyyyy more hateful email than she ever does taking a stab at McCain. This is the Audacity of Hope and the mentality of their bully pulpit of understanding, compassionate followers?

08:09 pm - I Give Up Why would Scott McClellan allow himself to be interviewed by, of all people, Keith Olberman? The guy basically called you a monkey and celebrated your dismissal as if you were a ringmaster of the circus. Of all the people to be interviewed by... It reminds me of Oprah having that author come and apologize for lying about that book.
Anyways, in the aftermath of all of this, I may end up buying/reading the book.
In my own reflection, it's really sad for me to have to admit my own... dissapointment in the administration. I chalked up a lot of this rebellion against Bush as the usual liberal rioting, with all the chants, songs, flash games, New York Times aritcles, shirts and Bush stickers on stop signs to go along with it. I guess it sort of falls under the same effect of the "echo chamber"; just as the left accused media outlets such as Fox "Noise" for repeating the same stuff over and over, the same shit was said over and over by the left and opposers to the Bush administration (or even the GOP) in general, that at some point, it just all turns into "Bush, Bush, Haliburton, Bush, Bush, Haliburton, Cheney, Dark Lord of the Sith Rove."
The unfortunate product of all of this, is that the politics of Rove may have destroyed republicanism, or at least put it on ice for 8 years (after Obama screws up, and do the old 1-2 political party shift).
To be honest, I am pretty burnt out about politics. I feel idiotic for having allowed myself get swept up in the idiocy. I know I know better about a lot of this stuff, and I also know a lot of my own ideas were infinitely better than anything this administration has put forward (Powell doctrine in Afghanistan, action in Iraq limited to forceful insertion of UN Inspectors, possibly with the arrest of Hussein for warcrimes and crimes against humanity, take the money for Iraq and put it into ways to get off oil completely in the interest of national security and environmental security). I read about it, watch it, and listen, but I don't care as much about what happens this coming election.
McCain is already pandering, and I have to admit, he is not the McCain a lot of people fell in love with in 2000 with his Straight Talk Express. Obama, the "man of the people", has become the man of the establishment strangely enough, winning over the superdelegates at a proportion beyond the equivalent he should receiver based on popular vote. The fringe politics of the republicans for the past 7 years will force only a polar opposite (but similar in magnitude) fringe politics to take over by the left, and we will have another 8 years of Bush, in the sense that bipartisanship will be non-existent, and instead of tweaking the system that we have that works fairly weel in general, we will change everything and turn it upside down, start from the begining, and turn it into one big socialistic pipedream mess.
